Wellness for Families
Healthy habits developed early on help prevent certain health conditions like heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetics, and stroke.
Children learn healthy habits behaviors from the adults around them, and parents who participate in healthy activities are more likely to pass these values on to their children. Explore some healthy tips below.

Make family wellness fun.
Exercise, visit parks and playgrounds together. Explore nature, run, climb, cycle, throw a ball, take a hike. The physical activity options are limitless!
Reduce screen time.
Make it a family challenge and take away the phone, ipad, computer and game screens to see what you can fill that time with…puzzles, reading books, playing with sidewalk chalk, visiting neighbors…all ways to fill those emotional, mental, intellectual, and physical buckets!

Hold regular family meetings
Children like to be part of the decision-making process. Weekly family meetings can allow even young children to help plan meals, determine who will do what chores, what activities the family will engage in, and the establishment of family rules and consequences.
Cook with your kids
Instead of picking up dinner on the way home or popping something into the microwave consider gathering up the whole crew to help make dinner at least once per week.
You will probably prepare a healthier meal, have quality family time to talk and laugh, teach your children about mathematics and science through the cooking process, gain feelings of satisfaction for a well made meal, and start some long remembered family traditions.
